The Gumbo Shop

Thursday, May 1 2008 at 6:18 PM by Rick

Creole food is among some of the best we've had, and we will need to search out recipes to cook for ourselves. Each thing we ate was better than the next: Jambalaya, Chicken Andouille Gumbo, Shrimp Creole, and our particular favorite, Crawfish Etouffee.

You don't really need the Louisiana hot sauce which is available everywhere, but man, that stuff is good. However, we were lukewarm on another local specialty, Pralines and Cream, but maybe we just got it at a bad place.

Thanks to our friend Chris' boss Chris, for tipping us off to the delicious gumbo.

  1. Peege The food in New Orleans is some of the best I've ever eaten. Too bad about the Pralines & Cream ice cream, though. Sorry! I was really good when I had it which was....OK just suffice it to say it was a long time ago. Did you experience the "which food is better: creole vs cajun" debate? Some restauranteurs can get pretty defensive about their opinion. http://www.tabasco.com/taste_tent/menu_planning/cajun_vs_creole_cooking.cfm
  2. C-Note I showed Chris the website and he said thanks for the shout-out! I'm so hungry...
